"Gaschurn, September 9th, 1995, the world premiere of the film Schlafes Bruder is being held in the schoolyard. All the actors have been once again brought together for the biggest open-air live performance of all time in full Dolby stereo. It’s raining. A Gala reporter claims primly and adamantly that we know each other from studying German literature together – What do you mean, when and where was that? At the hotel, an actor colleague shows me a “chute”, a joint you smoke by putting the lit side in your mouth and keeping it closed. We fall about laughing when looking at my telephone doodle, a sketch of the creator to accompany Michael Jackson’s poem The Dance from the album sleeve of his Dangerous CD: “This world we live in is the dance of the creator ... I keep on dancing ... and dancing ... and dancing, until there is only ... The Dance.” It sounds like Art In Ruins, 1993. In the background, the Fahlun mines and their transport baskets can be seen, against a landscape that shows people sitting on a bench. I thought I’d soon have stored all landscapes in my head and would no longer need to move. Time did as it usually does." (From: arsenal, september 16).

"The model of a nerve cell, rising from a coffin that two bearers lift from a vehicle. Details of the Arab ornament Acanthus in the nerve cell and in the window of the hearse. In the nucleus of the cell, the naked body of my father in WWII, photographed in Poland or Russia. Below, his labeling, which I crossed out, of a magazine file for The Garden as Fountain of Youth,to which he had subscribed. He who has the privilege of dying during peacetime has the time to destroy his own garden out of anger about his imminent death. Here, trees torn out of the ground and removed from the garden: oak, willow, beech, and birch. Josef von Sternberg and Frieda Grafe in 1969 at the airport Munich Riem during his last trip to Europe. He already has the plane ticket in his hand. Friendship means to be taken seriously in thoughts and action, and I experienced that with both, actively and passively, knowingly or unknowingly. We still talk with each other a lot, meaning that I hear their voices inside me." (From: Black Blocks, Cinema Scope #46, 2011).

"A picture puzzle: Josef von Sternberg and Frieda Grafe at the airport Munich Riem in February 1969 at the end of his last trip to Europe. The positives and negatives of the portraits are inserted in the outlines of drinking vessels and shaving equipment in the photograph Glass and Happinesswhich Elfi Mikesch gave to me as a gift in 1994. The circular stamp with the personal emblem of Sternberg and his signature 'Jo' appear distorted into an egg shape on the silhouette of a glass decanter. On the neck, a bleeding shaving cut, to the left, the mouth of a smoker with a cigarette. In the background, mirrored along all three possible axes: QUETYALCOATL, the snake of the green feather, the King of the Aztecs, the God of the sky and of the day, chased away by his brother, the God of night. He was expected to return from the West. The Spaniards approaching from Peru in their shiny armour were mistaken for him. They were heaped upon with gold, and then began their raids, the booty of which formed the basis of the European monetary systems." (From: Black Blocks, Cinema Scope #46, 2011).
